Energy Independence Summit

Since 2002, the Transportation Energy Partnership has been putting together an event in Washington DC that gets Clean Cities representatives talking to their legislators and/or key staff members. Originally called "Washington Days," it was renamed to "EID" in 2007. The keys to the event are bringing coordinators and stakeholders together, educating and exchanging information about federal policy issues and priorities, communicating directly with legislators about the work we are doing in our communities and states and related transportation energy policy, building broad-based support to help us accomplish dour work.

We are working to grow EID, so if you want to get involved, join us! Just contact any of the board members to learn about how you could begin taking action for a cleaner, more efficient, more energy secure and environmentally sustainable transportation system in the United States.

EIS 2011

"Energy Independence Summit" (EID) is a partnership between coalitions and industry supporters of the almost 90 Clean Cities coalitions that exist all over the United States. EID 2011 will be February 28 - March 3. The main activities are a day-long educational seminar on Tuesday, March 1 followed by educational meetings and briefings with federal policymakers on Wednesday, March 2. (This is a change from our prior years; the working days are both shifted one day forward in the week, from Mon. and Tues. to Tues. and Wednesday.) The complete draft agenda will be available here soon (check the top of this page). Sponsor funds from industry make it possible for dozens of Clean Cities coordinators to travel to Washington DC to receive briefings, exchange ideas, and meet with congressional members and staff. Please see the link on this site for hotel and other logistical information.

Thanks to all who participated last year. Please join us this Feb. 28-March 3 in DC to learn about important national issues that affect the work Clean Cities coalitions do for our country and to spread the word about your coalition's successes.

EID 2010 was our best year ever with over 40 coalitions making over 100 Congressional office visits!
