Federal Tax Services Assistance Program for Clean Cities Coalitions
Transportation Energy Partners (TEP) offers Clean Cities Coalitions assistance with IRS tax compliance. The IRS sometimes recognizes a group of organizations as tax-exempt if they are affiliated with a central organization. This avoids the need for each of the organizations to apply for exemption individually and provides an administrative convenience for both the IRS and the affiliated organizations. In 1999 TEP obtained an exemption under a Group Ruling from the IRS for itself, as the central organization, and those Clean Cities Coalitions who affiliate with TEP. Under this Group Ruling, TEP offers two tax services related programs for Coalitions – Tax Exemption Assistance and Tax Reporting Assistance. For more information on these programs, their cost, and how Coalitions can participate please contact either Lee Grannis, TEP Treasurer or Phillip Wiedmeyer, TEP Vice President & Assistant Treasurer.
